Surgical Treatment
This section has descriptions of the surgical procedures that are done for throwing and some other athletic-related injuries. Most are arthroscopic meaning they are done mostly with a camera scope, which limits incisions and can speed recovery. This section is also useful for orthopedic surgeon education.
Elbow Osteochondritis Dessicans
One or more bone fragments break off within the elbow following degeneration of the capitellum of the lateral elbow. Surgical options include:
1. Arthroscopic synovectomy and drilling
2. Arthroscopic repair of the lesion
3. Arthroscopic cartilage transfer from the knee
4. Arthroscopic chondrocyte transplantation
